Wishes and Blessings holds internship programmes in the summer and winter under the Youth Lights<\/a> programme. Read on for a glimpse into a Lightiers experience at our shelter homes!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My name is Aanya Dhillon, and I\u2019m a student of Pathways World School, Aravali. I have many hobbies one of them is teaching- teaching the underprivileged. I feel that every individual should give back to the community. This, in turn, creates ripples of kindness. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019ve worked with them twice. In the year 2017, I did my first internship under the Youth Lights Programme<\/a> for 2 months at the Desire Home which was sponsored by Wishes and Blessings. Every day was full of happiness since the moment we walked in they all had these smiling faces saying \u201cgood morning didi!\u201d and while leaving \u201cbye didi, jaldi aana\u201d these two sentences just made me want to go back every day and I ended up doing two months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last year (2018), I was interning at the Santosh home in Gurgaon for construction worker\u2019s kids. I would teach them Math, English and Science along with some extra-curriculars like art and dance. We even painted their walls and made charts for them, so that they would remember all the information that we gave them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I decided to come back in the year 2019 and intern at the office. I wanted to do this with Wishes and Blessings because the experiences that I have had in the past with the NGO are unforgettable. The joy and happiness you get by doing a small act of giving are indelible, and I would love to create more and more memories by having similar experiences. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I feel a connection with all the children and there\u2019s a desire to always come back and just talk to them, not even to teach them or make them do an activity. Since I have interacted with so many children who are underprivileged, it becomes easier to interact with others. It\u2019s easier to understand the other children and the difficulties they face. They all aspire to be big in life and help their families out, if not families then their friends. It always touches my heart when they talk about what they want to be because they all believe in themselves and have the will power to strive and work hard towards being what they want to be. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
