I visited the Modi Mills Day Care Centre on a special occassion- a donor wanted to celebrate her birthday with the children. This was the first time I had visited the centre, and I was looking forward to the experience.
As soon as I entered the hall, I was greeted with a loud ‘Good afternoon Didi!’ I wished them back and got to know all their names. There were smiles all around! I have always loved children… Whenever I spend time with them, whether it be by talking to them or playing with them, I feel tension free and forget about my worries for a while.
The birthday celebration was followed by a special lunch. I believe that to feed someone is an act of happiness. There is nothing comparable to this selfless act; we cannot get the same joy by buying a car or earning lots of money.
We served rice, paneer and halwa to all the children in the day care centre. While serving them I was feeling so fortunate because to feed someone a bite who can’t afford quality food is a noble cause which gives unlimited happiness and satisfaction.
After the special lunch, the donor cut a cake with all the children and distributed gifts. Then we all joined the children in a fun dance party!
I have always been interested in going into the field and seeing how NGOs carry out their efforts at the grassroots level. I enjoyed this visit a lot and look forward to attending events like this and spending some quality time with these children.
