Channelling the Youth of Today

The youth of today are strong, fearless, reckless, confident, and also brave. They have views and ideas along with creativity and enthusiasm to change and evolve the world into a better place. These young people are full of hope and with their hunger for imagination, they are the problem solvers.

Now with these important traits that they possess, if someone is able to instil in them a curiosity of what is to come in the future, or the ability to imagine how things could be different, or even a sense of empathy for our future selves, maybe they might be able to ask themselves and think hard about their future and that of those to come. They might ponder over wanting to create a positive change in their own lives and the world around them. Our generation has been labelled ‘a lazy bunch’ by many people, but what I take from understanding our generation is that we are efficient when we work and believe in working smarter, not harder.

Young people are in a continuous search for the accomplishment and ideals that generate the desire of helping the environment, families, communities, and the world as a whole, and are trying to channelize their strengths the right way. With globalization and technology taking over everywhere, the world has become much more compact, making it easier to connect, and specially now, there is a chance for the youth to join hands and come together as one, for the overall betterment of the future of our planet.

The eagerness and attitudes of the younger generation can definitely be put to good use as showcased by a 15-year-old named Greta Thunberg. She saw that many political leaders were not in favor to conserve and take care of the environment, or even worse, showed contempt to those who cared for the future of our planet, and she spoke up. Due to this, leaders in high places were forced to acknowledge her words and take appropriate actions. She therefore became a leading spokesperson for our generation, and effectively portrays the fearless and bold characteristics of the youth of today.
