Volunteer Workshop at Modi Mills Day Care Centre

Every second Saturday we conduct volunteer workshops under our volunteer initiative- Squad for Change. Read on for Monika’s experience at a Volunteer Workshop held at the Wishes and Blessings Modi Mills Day Care Centre.

We combined art and craft with making the best out of waste and held a workshop on painting old bottles.

Recycling is the process of converting waste material into reusable objects.

We soaked the bottles in sunlight to ensure that they were completely dry. We then started by painting the glass bottles in bright colours. The children did some research and chose their favourite designs…The outcome was so beautiful!

There are several advantages of working with these used glass bottles. One can either use them as decorative items at home or can grow house plants in them.

There are many benefits to recycling like:

It reduces the amount of waste produced by us.

Conserves natural resources such as water, wood, and minerals.

It prevents an overuse of resources.

This waste recycle workshop was new for the kids. They had never

done this before so they were a little nervous. But when they learned

the process they enjoyed it a lot and they painted like professionals.
