June is an important month at Wishes and Blessings, a Delhi-based NGO. We just held the fourth edition of Blogarity at our old age home- Mann ka Tilak and this event was made even more special as we launched an exciting campaign against elder abuse!

 

What is Blogarity?

 

For those of you who have missed out, Blogarity is a unique event where blogging meets charity. Held once a month in the shelters that Wishes and Blessings runs and supports, the bloggers meet up acts as a platform for micro and macro bloggers to connect, network and interact with underprivileged and homeless street children and elderly. The NGO is tapping a resource that no other organisation is using- influencer marketing. They are using their reach and influence all for a good cause!

 

Blogarity- IV

 

The IV Edition of Blogarity was held at Mann ka Tilak and bloggers from various genres got together to blog for a cause! The ammas and uncles loved meeting them and hugs and smiles were galore. After sharing stories, some happy, some sad, it was time for some fun activities! One of them was using vegetables to create beautiful pieces of art! Many ammas remembered their childhood days where they did similar activities in school…

 

 

Through the event, the residents could share their heartbreaking stories, and build new, happier memories to ease the pains of the past. The bloggers left the shelter home with a renewed sense of purpose and a treasure trove of happy remembrances.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

#WipeTheirTearsLiftTheirLives

 

Blogarity IV was extra special as we launched a special campaign for our elders! The #WipeTheirTearsLiftTheirLives was launched to commemorate the upcoming UN Elder Abuse Day to be celebrated on 15th June. Not many people know that there are more than 5 forms of abuse that our elders face! Wishes and Blessings is on a mission to spread awareness and create a strong army to pledge against elder abuse! We are using the simple and common white handkerchief to stand for something our elders need- peace, safety and security.
