Learning Experience from Ngo Internship in 2023

For the past one month, Wishes and Blessings have been an integral part of my journey. I have not only completed an ngo internship but much more than that. I got the exposure and learning that I will carry forward for a very long time. It will always be something that I will look back to and be grateful for because of all that I could experience and see.

My mentor, Miss Monika Phore, was an amazing source of inspiration throughout the period of one month, and I am grateful to have had her as my guiding light during this internship. This organization has made me realize how important it is to observe our surroundings, acknowledge our privilege and help everyone in need. Working here has made me more responsible and creative in many ways, and I wish the very best to Wishes and Blessings. It’ll always remain a precious part of my experience with social work.

Benefits of Ngo Internship

My experience with children at Modi mills is an unforgettable memory. I will never forget the smiles we were able to bring to their faces. They enjoyed all the parts of the activities that we conducted and left me in awe of the talent and determination they carried. All of them were so focused and enthusiastic throughout the whole workshop that it warmed our hearts. Being with those children that day and having those special moments with them is something I’ll always cherish, and I am grateful to have been a part of this incredible initiative. I hope I can see those children sometime again in the future.

In order to celebrate the anniversary of our organization, I was able to get in contact with a baker who runs a small business and has excellent baking skills, which helped us conduct a session with our volunteers where we all made brownies with the guidance of our talented baker, Mrs. Meenakshi Malik who taught us so much about baking throughout the session. Whoever was able to make brownies distributed them amongst the underprivileged and shared them with their loved ones. It was indeed a very wholesome way to celebrate our two-year anniversary and make some amazing memories.

Kamala Nehru College of Delhi University organized a spring fest. My mentor, Monika ma’am, a few other volunteers, and I held a stall representing Wishes and Blessings. After a long, virtual period, we were able to have the offline event very successfully. That day taught me a lot, things like having an important responsibility, communicating with people, and doing something to my best potential in order to achieve desired results.

Learning Objectives for Internship

Wishes and blessings collaborated with Girl up Ikhtiyar for delivering modules related to good touch – bad touch, body positivity and gender discrimination. These modules were delivered at two locations- Modi mills and Coolie camp. I was a part of these two memorable days. The workshop conducted almost went on for an hour.

During that whole period, every single child was so confined and involved with the session throughout and had such insightful as well as lovely things to say and express, making us all smile. It felt wonderful to see the children being taught things that are so crucial to know. They all were very easily able to comprehend it and even come up with their own answers. They were applauded for their contribution and were given presents for the same.

Throughout this beautiful experience of visiting our children, organizing workshops and doing something for a great cause, I have learned to be more responsible, consistent and sincere with whatever duties I get. It was not just individual development but also a contribution towards the motive of helping society that kept me growing. As I reach the end of my internship, I can say with great pride that there is no greater joy than being a part of this wonderful organization and making people smile with the initiatives one can be a part of. I will forever be thankful for Wishes and blessings and my mentor, Monika ma’am.
