Wishes and Blessings launched the Covid Relief Project on Day 1 of the lockdown (25th March 2020) and has continued to aid the daily wagers, homeless and at-risk families since then. Support was tapered as the need on the ground reduced towards September 2020.
The Project has been relaunched in April 2021, keeping in mind the dire situation on ground.
Q1. How is Wishes and Blessings making a difference?
Lakhs of homeless people, daily wage labourers and their families across India no longer have the means to fulfil even basic needs, and cannot access resources required for medical aid. We aim to share the load with the government and other organizations working on the field.
Under the Wishes and Blessings
Covid Relief Project, we are covering four verticals:
- •Ration and Hygiene Kits
- •Medical Supplies
- •Ambulance Services
- •Quarantine Facilities
The ration and hygiene kits will
be distributed to destitute families across 4 states:
- •Assam
- •Delhi
- •Jharkhand
- •West Bengal
We aim to distribute 1,500 kits
on a monthly basis. Each kit costs Rs. 750 and contains:
- •Rice
- •Atta
- •Pulses
- •Oil
- •Salt
- •Tea
- •Sugar
- •Soap
- •Masks
- •Paracetamol
The medical supplies will be provided to shelters for the homeless across Delhi/NCR. These essentials include oximeters, sanitisers, soap, masks etc. We aim to distribute 300 kits, with each kit costing Rs. 1,200.
To be launched on the 1st of May 2021, the Wishes and Blessings Ambulances will be operational in South and South West Delhi, providing free of cost transportation to needy Covid+ patients requiring transportation from their residence to the hospital/treatment facility. The 2 vehicles will be operational 12 hours/day, 7 days of the week, and are equipped with oxygen cylinders and stretchers. We have received the sponsorships for running 2 ambulances for the month of May 2021, and thus do not require aid for the same.
The Quarantine Facilities will be launched in the first week of May, and will be providing free of cost stay and meals to needy Covid+ patients until they recover.
We request you to kindly step forward and help us make this project a success!
Q2. How are we ensuring the safety of all?
We are adhering to the safety protocols as closely as possible. The meals are cooked under strict sanitary conditions and the team and volunteers wear safety gear at all times while distributing aid on the ground. The ambulances will be sanitised on a regular basis.
We are trying to work as efficiently and as safely as possible within the limited conditions and space available. Our priority has and always will be the health of our beneficiaries.
