As temperatures drop and winter sets in, Wishes and Blessings sets out every Friday between December and February to distribute winter relief to the underprivileged and homeless. Under 10Fridays~10Drives, the organization distributes items that provide warmth- from mufflers, sweaters, gloves, blankets and even food. Volunteers from across Delhi/NCR join the team each Friday and help them in ensuring that the homeless have a comfortable winter.

From the past two years, I have been actively working in the social sector. Unfortunately, I never had an opportunity to visit any night shelter. Through Wishes and Blessings, I got this opportunity for which I am eternally grateful to the organization. This visit became an unforgettable and one of the most memorable moments of my life.
That was the best way to start the New Year! I have always felt overwhelmed while working in the social sector but this specific day became an eye-opener for me.
Despite having all the luxuries in our lives we are never content. However, these people taught me that we should be grateful for all the things we have. These people were happy and more excited than us about the New Year.
Delhi’s winter is unbearable. These people don’t even have access to beds! They sleep on the floor with their blankets. Under 10Fridays~10Drives, Wishes and Blessings provides winter relief to the destitute. I joined the team in distributing warm clothes to the residents of the shelter home. They became very excited when they got mufflers and gloves which we provided.
In the shelter home, people live together. They all come from different backgrounds, different religions and regions but still, they live together happily and help each other like a family facing all difficulties together. Their ‘lets rise together’ attitude is extremely inspiring!
After my visit, I took one New Year resolution –to be grateful for things that God has given me and to not be afraid to help others, because the best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.
